I’m Alfred, a passionate computer science Engineer from Italy.
I got my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Perugia.
After finishing my bachelor’s, I started working with PCS Group, an MSSP, as a System Administrator and Cybersecurity Consultant. This allowed me to work on very diverse infrastructures and come into contact with a large number of software.
My career path
I started my path working mainly on enterprise network management, focusing particularly on firewalls.
At the same time, I learned the concepts needed to optimally manage an enterprise domain, including mail services and hybridization with the cloud.
Later I was involved in the design and subsequent implementation of backup infrastructures. I personally manage the backup strategies of customers with a considerable amount of data and need for high availability of their services.
The backup administrator role then led me to spend a lot of time working on virtual infrastructures, especially those based on the VMWare environment.
In addition, following the current trend, I have also gained experience in the cloud, mainly Microsoft, both for IaaS and SaaS services, and on managing hybrid environments
Furthermore, I specialized in implementing asset and business process management solutions, such as UEMS and ITSM systems.
The cybersecurity journey
Starting in 2022, I actively participated in the creation of a dedicated cybersecurity business unit within the company.
We have designed and implemented a series of tools to enhance the security level of our customers, such as a proprietary threat intelligence platform and an assessment procedure, based on the most relevant international frameworks, to evaluate the cyber risk of companies.
Through conducting these activities I have gained a lot of experience in reporting in-depth cybersecurity reports to provide detailed accounts of the Threat exposure of an organization.
Being a new organization, during the initial phase, all team members, including myself, developed cross-functional skills necessary to be able to provide 360-degree cybersecurity consulting.
Over time I then specialized in the blue team side and now I am in charge of the activities related to the management of the Managed Detection and Response service we offer: monitoring, detecting and responding to cybersecurity threats. Working on this service has given me a great understanding of the EDR, XDR, SIEM and SOAR systems that are the core component of the MDR service.
